Alasdair Fraser's Sierra Fiddle Camp will celebrate the fiddle music of Scotland and the World when they return to Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley with their fifth annual Sierra Fiddle Camp followed by "Fiddlers in the Park" picnic concert.  Over 200 musicians, singers and dancers ranging in age from 5 to 85 will join Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and the world-class faculty of camp instructors to celebrate with a week of intensive study and revelry.  On Saturday, June 19 a concert will be held in the beautiful Western Gateway Park pavilion.

This year's Fiddlers in the Park picnic concert combines the music of Scotland and the World with special guests, Spanish duo Diego Galaz and Carlos Beceiro on fiddle and guitar, and California fiddler/piper/storyteller Kevin Carr

Alasdair Fraser is renowned as a performer and master teacher of the rich fiddling tradition of Scotland.  He inspires self-expression within an embracing community of listeners, learners and like-minded folk. The variety and expressivity of Alasdair's playing is evident in his numerous recordings—from intimate fiddle/guitar duets, to a more contemporary interpretation of tradition, to high energy original tunes with his Skyedance band.

Spanish violinist Diego Galaz began studying classical music at the tender age of six.  After moving to Madrid for academic training (modern harmony, guitar, composition, musical school IMT), he joined the city's vibrant music scene performing, touring and recording with numerous ensembles and soloists . He is currently a member of a trio with Cuco Perez and Luis Delgado and teaches at Alasdair Fraser's newest fiddle camp in Spain.

Kevin Carr singer and storyteller, player of fiddle, bagpipes, accordion, and banjo.  Hi is a member of the Hillbillies from Mars, he performs with the Celtic/Grateful Dead band, Wake the Dead, with Galician big band, Charanga, and plays with his wife Josie as a member of Les Tetes de Violon and Melange. He may be found every summer in Port Townsend, at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes and at the Lark In the Morning camp in Mendocino, playing fiddle and many types of bagpipes.

This will be a rollicking celebration of music, song and dance with one of Nevada County's gifted revelers.
